Magmar

⚡

Magmar is a Fire-type with a body temperature of 1,100 degrees Celsius, a beak-shaped face, and the appearance of something that formed inside a volcano and kept most of that experience with it. It's not hostile — Magmar is actually a fairly calm presence — but it requires a significant tolerance for heat to spend time near.

Role in Pokopia

Magmar appears in the island's hottest zones — sun-facing terrain with minimal water and good thermal exposure, near other high-heat Fire-types. Their body temperature means they leave scorch marks on rocks they lean against and slightly warm any water nearby. The ecosystem effects of Magmar are mostly benign but definitely thermally measurable.

Pokémon Notes

Fire-type from Generation I. Famously designed as a counterpart to the Ice/Psychic Jynx in the original games — one of several pairs built on elemental opposition. Evolves into Magmortar via trade with Magmarizer. In Pokopia, Magmar occupies its pre-evolved form, a hot, beaked, committed resident of the island's fire zones.
