Makuhita

⚡

Makuhita is a small, rotund Fighting-type with the shape of a sumo wrestler and the attitude of one in intense training. It falls down often — repeatedly, it's kind of the method — but gets up every time, and each time it does, it's slightly more resilient than before. Makuhita turns failure into muscle memory.

Role in Pokopia

Makuhita is attracted to the Exercise Resting Spot, the same habitat that draws Hitmonchan. They're often found working the punching bag in the early morning before the other Fighting-types show up, and they're usually still there when the others leave. Their dedication to training makes them a reliable presence near the Exercise Resting Spot once it's been placed.

Pokémon Notes

Fighting-type from Generation III (Hoenn), evolves into Hariyama. Makuhita has what is effectively a perfect arc: it's defined by getting knocked down and rising, which culminates in a final form that is genuinely imposing. In Pokopia, it's still in the getting-knocked-down-and-rising phase, which is arguably more interesting to watch.
