Psyduck

Psyduck is perpetually gripping its own head, perpetually on the verge of a psychic eruption it can't quite control. This is a Pokémon defined by its own inconvenient condition: powerful psychic abilities that are always slightly overwhelming, a constant low-grade headache, and somehow, enduringly good-natured through all of it.

Role in Pokopia

Psyduck appears near water sources, particularly places where the sound of water seems to help with the headache situation. They show up once rivers and ponds have been partially restored and tend to sit near the water's edge, head in hands, apparently finding the sound calming. Their presence in a water habitat is an indicator of a certain ecological mellowness.

Pokémon Notes

Water-type from Generation I, famous for being the hapless partner of Misty in the anime and for its counterintuitive combination of constant pain and psychic power. Psyduck evolves into Golduck but doesn't reach that evolution in Pokopia's island population — Psyduck is simply Psyduck here, indefinitely.
