Diglett

⚡

Diglett lives in the ground. More specifically, Diglett maintains a permanent tunnel network through whatever terrain it inhabits, surfacing only briefly and apparently only the top portion of its body. What the rest of Diglett looks like is one of the Pokémon franchise's oldest and most deliberately unanswered questions.

Role in Pokopia

Diglett appears in soil-heavy areas — places where Rototiller has been used or where loose earth is abundant. They pop up unexpectedly and disappear equally quickly, leaving small holes that turn out to be aeration points in the soil. Diglett's presence in a tilled area noticeably improves the growing conditions for plant habitats nearby.

Pokémon Notes

Ground-type from Generation I. Diglett is famous for the ongoing debate about its lower body, which was definitively shown to be leg-shaped and claw-footed in a 2021 event — a revelation that pleased approximately nobody who wanted to keep the mystery. In Pokopia, Diglett's full body remains, as ever, underground and theoretical.
