Onix
Onix is a chain of enormous spherical boulders connected into a serpentine body, Rock/Ground-type, over eight meters long. Moving one around would be impractical; it moves itself, drilling through rock and earth with a grinding sound that you hear long before you see it. On an island being cleared of rock formations, Onix's relationship with stone is complex.
Role in Pokopia
Onix appears in the island's most rocky sections — areas with significant boulder concentrations, the harder terrain that takes the longest to clear or repurpose. They're not obstacles (unless you try to use Rock Smash near one they've decided to sleep in) but residents of the rocky zones, having carved their paths through the terrain over years. Onix tunnels occasionally connect areas that would otherwise require longer routes.
Pokémon Notes
Rock/Ground-type from Generation I. Onix evolves into Steelix (which also appears on the island) via Metal Coat trade in the mainline games. In Pokopia, both coexist as different-sized residents of the island's stone terrain, Onix lighter and faster, Steelix slower and imposing.
