Restore the Island
Restore the Island is the central quest of Pokémon Pokopia — the overarching mission that frames everything else. It doesn't have a single completion state so much as a series of milestones: each biome restored, each Pokémon returned, each character's storyline resolved. It is less a quest and more a purpose.
Structure
Unlike most quest-giver requests in the game, which come from specific Pokémon and ask for specific actions, Restore the Island is ambient. Professor Tangrowth articulates it in the opening hours, but no single character tracks it or declares it complete. Progress is visible in the world itself: an increasingly populated, increasingly colorful island is the quest log.
How Progress is Made
Every habitat placed, every material crafted into furniture, every move learned and applied to the terrain contributes to the island's restoration. Environment levels rise biome by biome, and each level brings new Pokémon, which brings new move-teaching opportunities, which enables new terrain changes. The loop is designed to feel organic: you don't grind to restore the island, you restore the island by living in it.
Why Ditto?
The choice of Ditto as protagonist is the thematic answer to this quest. An island needs diverse life to thrive — many species, many roles, many different kinds of Pokémon filling different ecological niches. Ditto, uniquely, is the Pokémon who can serve as a bridge to all of them: learning their moves, adapting to their needs, becoming whatever the island requires at any given moment. The restoration of the island and the nature of Ditto as a species are the same story.
