Warped Tongs

Warped Tongs is an event relic that can be obtained from a specific random event. At the start of each turn, it automatically upgrades a random card in your hand. The upgrade happens immediately at the beginning of your turn before you play any cards. It can only be obtained through its associated event.

Warped Tongs provides a free random upgrade each turn, which over a long combat can apply upgrades to most or all of the cards you draw. While the randomness means you don't control which card gets upgraded, the upgrade is free and immediate, improving whatever card you're holding. In extended fights like boss encounters, Warped Tongs can effectively upgrade a significant portion of your hand mid-combat. It is most impactful on decks with many cards that benefit substantially from upgrades, and least impactful on decks that are already fully upgraded or that have cards with marginal upgrade differences. Unlike smithing at campfires, Warped Tongs upgrades are temporary for that specific card instance in hand, not permanent — but combined with the automatic nature, it provides consistent combat-turn improvements.
