Stepping Stones
Stepping Stones are individual flat stones laid at irregular intervals across open ground, creating an informal path that invites exploration without imposing on the landscape it crosses. Crafted from Stone, they contribute to the Flooring sub-score while adding a gentle Nature value — the slightly random spacing suggests a path that was placed in response to how people and Pokémon actually move rather than designed from above. They are most effective as connective tissue between denser outdoor features, threading a walkable route through garden beds, water features, and open lawn areas.
Ground-type and Water-type Pokémon use Stepping Stone paths more naturally than any other flooring type — their irregular spacing mirrors the natural rock formations these species would navigate in the wild. A Stepping Stone path leading from an entrance through Garden Flowers to a Water Basin is one of the most organically appealing approach sequences in any outdoor habitat, and works particularly well in Japanese-garden or forest-clearing themed builds. Unlike the more formal Stone Tiling, Stepping Stones never feel over-engineered, which is part of why they appear in nearly every high-scoring naturalistic environment.
