Campfire

The Campfire is the social center of Pokémon Pokopia. More than any other craftable item, it changes the character of an area: from empty land to a place where things gather. Pokémon who wouldn't cross an open clearing will linger near a warm fire. Chef Dente uses it to cook. Smearguru paints by it. DJ Rotom plays better sets near it, or at least seems to.

Crafting

Recipe: 1× Sturdy Stick + 1× Stone. Requires a Workbench. Both ingredients are gathered through action moves — Sturdy Sticks from Cut, Stone from Rock Smash — so a Campfire is achievable as soon as you have both Scyther and Hitmonchan befriended. In terms of investment-to-impact ratio, the Campfire is probably the highest-value early craft in the game.

Environmental and Social Effects

Placing a Campfire in an area draws Pokémon to it during evening and night hours particularly. Some character storylines only progress once a Campfire exists in the relevant area. Chef Dente's cooking sequences — which unlock specific food items and character conversations — are triggered at Campfires. An island with no Campfire is an island that hasn't become a home yet.
