Bulbasaur

⚡

Bulbasaur is the first Pokémon most players befriend in Pokopia, and the relationship sets the tone for everything that follows: patience, observation, and a move that changes the island visibly. When a Bulbasaur trusts you enough to share Leafage, the island's restoration begins in earnest.

Role in Pokopia

Bulbasaur teaches Leafage, the move that creates Tall Grass habitats. This makes Bulbasaur the ecological keystone of early-game island development — without Leafage, there's no ground cover, and without ground cover, almost no other Pokémon have reason to stay. The chain of attraction and friendship that defines Pokopia's core loop starts with this seed-bearing, vine-shouldered creature.

Finding Bulbasaur

Bulbasaur appears in areas with even minimal existing vegetation, making them one of the earliest wild Pokémon you'll encounter. They tend to linger in whatever patches of green survive in the Withered Wasteland — as if standing guard over what little remains before restoration begins.

Pokémon Notes

Bulbasaur is a Grass/Poison-type starter from the original Kanto games, famous for having a symbiotic plant bulb grafted to its back. In the mainline games, the bulb blossoms as Bulbasaur evolves into Ivysaur and then Venusaur. In Pokopia, the emphasis is on the plant — not as a battle tool, but as a reminder that Bulbasaur is, fundamentally, a creature of growth.
