Rotom

⚡

Wild Rotom on the island are Ghost/Electric-types in their base form — not inhabiting an appliance, not committed to a specific function, just the raw electrical spirit that is Rotom before it finds something to inhabit. They're smaller and less defined than DJ Rotom, drifting through areas with electrical activity in a state of potential.

DJ Rotom and the Wild Population

DJ Rotom has made a choice — a specific appliance, a specific identity, a music-focused existence. Wild Rotom are still in the deliberation phase. Players who observe wild Rotom near electrical items on the island will notice them investigating before moving on. Whether any of them will eventually choose a form is an open question.

Role in Pokopia

Wild Rotom appear in areas with multiple electronic or electrical objects — near Workbenches, in zones with dense Magnemite activity, in the vicinity of DJ Rotom's setup. They float at the periphery of these spaces, curious and uncommitted.

Pokémon Notes

Electric/Ghost-type from Generation IV. Rotom can inhabit a refrigerator, microwave, washing machine, fan, or lawnmower in the mainline games, taking on different secondary typings for each. The DJ form in Pokopia is an original variant exclusive to this game. Base Rotom is found in the Old Chateau in Diamond/Pearl — a ghost in a television. The appliance-possession concept has always carried a slightly unsettling undertone that the games handle with deliberate lightness.
