Retain

Retain is a card keyword that allows the card to stay in your hand at the end of your turn rather than being discarded. While most cards are discarded when your turn ends and then cycle back through your draw pile, Retain cards persist in your hand indefinitely until you choose to play them.

Retain is most prominent in The Watcher's kit, where several key cards have it, enabling powerful multi-turn setups and stance-switching sequences. Retain is particularly valuable for holding high-cost cards until you have the Energy to play them, or for setting up combos that require specific cards to be available together. Some relics and upgrades can grant Retain to cards. Retained cards do count against your hand size limit, so holding many Retain cards can reduce the number of new cards you draw each turn.
