Story Overview
The complete story of Crimson Desert: the Greymanes, the Black Bears, the continent of Pywel, and the cosmic threat of the Abyss.
The Fall of the Greymanes
The story opens with the Greymanes, a mercenary warband from the northern region of Pailune, being ambushed and devastated by the Black Bears, a rival faction led by the warlord Myurdin. The legendary Greymane leader Gian is killed in the attack. Kliff Macduff survives after a near-fatal single combat with Myurdin, thrown into a river and left for dead.
Rebuilding in Hernand
Kliff recovers and begins his journey across Pywel to reunite with scattered Greymane survivors. In Hernand, he proves himself to Marquis Serkis by restoring order to the Goldleaf Merchant Guild. The Marquis grants the Greymanes the Howling Hill fief as their new base, and Kliff begins the long work of rebuilding the warband.
The Supernatural Threat
A secondary, cosmic layer of the plot emerges through the Abyss, a supernatural dimension above Pywel. The alchemist Alustin, keeper of the Library of Providence, reveals that a great chaos threatens all worlds, a mission once held by Gian that now passes to Kliff as his successor. The enigmatic White Crow and five witches scattered across Pywel guide Kliff in navigating this supernatural threat.
Regional Influence
The game features a Regional Influence system where the continent's balance of power shifts based on which factions Kliff allies with and what territories are liberated. While there are multiple story choices, they do not alter the main ending. Multiple collectible endings are tied to side content completion.
