Mounts Guide
How to tame, train, and use mounts in Crimson Desert: horses, bears, wolves, raptors, and wyverns.
Mount Overview
Crimson Desert features five mount types: horses (primary traversal), bears (combat mounts with autonomous attacks), wolves (agile fighters), raptors (fastest land mounts), and wyverns (true aerial flight). Most mounts are obtained by taming wild animals encountered in the open world.
Horse Taming
Horse taming is introduced at Deepfog Basin in Hernand, the first taming location in the game. The taming minigame requires patience and timing to approach and mount a wild horse. Each horse has randomized Speed, Stamina, and Strength stats. Horses level up through use and bonding (petting the horse builds trust and unlocks skills). Equipment (caparisons, horseshoes, saddles) is applied at stables.
Mount Combat
Bears perform claw swipes, bites, and body slams autonomously while mounted, effectively doubling your combat output. Wolves and raptors offer fast hit-and-run tactics. The wyvern enables full aerial combat and is required for the Golden Star boss fight in Delesyia.
Aerial Traversal Chain
For rapid long-distance travel without a mount: use Axiom Force to grapple an elevated anchor point → slingshot upward → activate Crow's Wing glide at the apex → repeat. This chain allows traversal of large distances quickly and is faster than riding a horse across rough terrain.
