Boulder-Shaded Grass
Boulder-Shaded Grass is a rock-adjacent habitat: Tall Grass that's grown in the shelter of a large boulder or rocky formation, creating a semi-enclosed microenvironment. The combination of vegetation and stone attracts a specific and interesting subset of Pokémon not easily found elsewhere.
Attracted Pokémon
Rock-types who aren't comfortable in pure grassland, Ground-types who prefer the combination of soil and stone, and certain dual-type Pokémon who need both elements present will show up specifically in Boulder-Shaded Grass. Some species confirm the expectation — Graveler, Onix — while others surprise.
How to Create
Not every boulder is suitable. The boulder needs to be large enough to cast meaningful shadow, which means leaving the right ones standing when using Rock Smash. Selective use of Rock Smash — clearing path-blocking boulders while preserving habitat-forming ones — is an early skill that distinguishes thoughtful players from purely efficient ones.
