Wastepaper

🪵

Crumpled, weathered paper remnants scattered across the island — receipts, notices, labels, and unidentifiable scraps left behind from the human habitation that preceded the island's long abandonment. Wastepaper is Pokopia's recycled material, and its presence on the island is both a crafting resource and a narrative detail: someone was here, once, and left their paper trail behind. In crafting, it appears in signs, boards, and paper-based decorative items where a weathered, found-object quality is appropriate.

Wastepaper is a scavenging material: it concentrates in areas of Palette Town where old structures still stand and along the edges of paths that once saw regular foot traffic. Players who explore these areas thoroughly will accumulate more than they need; those who stick to freshly cleared terrain will occasionally be surprised by how scarce it is when a specific recipe calls for it. It can also be processed into clean Paper for recipes requiring a more polished finish.
