Sign
The Sign is a small painted wooden board on a stake, legible at close range and designed to mark paths, name locations, or simply add the sense that someone has thought carefully about where things are. Crafted from Small Logs and Wastepaper, it contributes to the Signage sub-score and is one of the cheapest available items for reinforcing a habitat's sense of organisation and intentionality. Like the Menu Board, its atmospheric value outweighs its raw environment score — a well-placed Sign tells arriving visitors and Pokémon alike that this space has a purpose.
Signs are often used as wayfinding tools in larger, multi-zone island builds — placed at path junctions to direct visitors toward specific habitats, the Workbench area, or the docks. They work at any scale, from a single marker outside a Wooden Birdhouse cluster to a comprehensive system of directional signs across a fully developed island. Certain Pokémon with reading-adjacent idle animations — notably the more scholarly-temperament species — will pause in front of Signs for longer than they stop at most other items, which makes the Sign an unexpected but reliable photography trigger.
