Shellos
Shellos is a small, squishy sea-slug Pokémon with a gooey exterior that functions both as protection and as a sensory surface. It exists in two regional color forms — West Sea (pink) and East Sea (blue) — and in Pokopia, both colors eventually appear in different coastal sections of the island, implying separate populations.
Role in Pokopia
Shellos appears in coastal and tidal zones — the areas accessible after Surf has been learned, particularly in shallow sections where land and sea meet. They move slowly and seem entirely unbothered by the concept of urgency. Shellos's presence in coastal areas is an early sign that the sea-edge habitats are developing well.
Pokémon Notes
Water-type from Generation IV (Sinnoh). Evolves into Gastrodon. Shellos's two forms were used in Sinnoh to reflect the two sides of a mountain range that prevented gene flow between populations. In Pokopia, the two forms are simply present, the reasons for their difference part of the island's unwritten natural history.
