Biased Cognition

Biased Cognition is a rare Defect power that grants 4 Focus immediately but causes you to lose 1 Focus at the start of every subsequent turn for 1 Energy. Focus is the Defect's primary scaling stat — it amplifies all Orb effects. Starting with 4 Focus means dramatically improved Orb output from the first turn, but the decay means by turn 4, you're back to 0 Focus gain net.

Biased Cognition rewards winning quickly. In the first 2-3 turns after playing it, the burst Focus advantage is enormous — Lightning Orbs deal 7-8 damage passively, Frost Orbs generate 5-6 Block. In longer fights, the decaying Focus becomes a liability. It excels in strategies that can close out combat fast with the Focus burst, particularly alongside Electrodynamics or with many Orbs already channeled. Upgraded, the initial Focus grant increases to 5, adding one more turn of peak performance.
