Lightning Surge

Lightning Surge is an offensive lightning-elemental ability from Kliff's Health skill tree that releases a burst of electrical energy in an area around Kliff's position, stunning all enemies caught in the radius and dealing lightning damage. It is one of the most powerful crowd control abilities in the game, capable of interrupting attack animations in progress and creating a window of vulnerability on multiple enemies simultaneously — a critical advantage in encounters with several coordinated opponents.

The activation time is brief but has a short tell that experienced enemies can react to, meaning Lightning Surge functions best as a response to enemy aggression rather than a pre-emptive opener. Against enemies already in their attack animation, the stun interrupt is particularly valuable — it cancels attacks that would otherwise be difficult to dodge and resets the enemy's behavior to a neutral state, giving Kliff a full response window.

Lightning Surge's area is circular and centered on Kliff's position, meaning it hits all directions equally. This makes it ideal for situations where Kliff has been flanked or surrounded, converting a dangerous defensive situation into an offensive opportunity by stunning the surrounding threats simultaneously. Against single bosses, the area-of-effect property is less relevant, but the stun duration is longer than alternative lightning abilities, providing a reliable damage window even against highly mobile boss targets.

Upgrading Lightning Surge increases the stun duration, the area radius, and the damage multiplier. The highest upgrade tier adds a secondary discharge that fires from each stunned enemy to nearby unstunned enemies, creating a chain effect in dense enemy groups. This chain lightning upgrade turns Lightning Surge into one of the most powerful clear abilities in the game against grouped enemies, capable of stunning entire encampments of foot soldiers in a single activation.
