Observe

Observe is a utility ability in Kliff's Spirit skill tree that temporarily enters an analytical mode โ€” slowing the player's movement to a walk and highlighting nearby enemies' elemental weaknesses, attack telegraphs, and health thresholds through an overlay system. While active, enemy weakness indicators appear as colored auras visible through obstacles up to a short distance, and enemies about to execute a telegraphed heavy attack display a brief warning icon.

The primary use case for Observe is pre-encounter intelligence gathering. Activating it before engaging a camp, dungeon, or boss provides information that changes how the player approaches the encounter โ€” identifying a fire-vulnerable enemy cluster that Flame Strike can clear efficiently, spotting the heavily armored enemy who requires ice-freeze-shatter to damage meaningfully, or noting the ranged enemy positioned at the back of the group who will disrupt melee engagements if not prioritized.

In boss fights, Observe can be activated during the encounter itself to identify the boss's current elemental weakness, which some bosses change between phases. This in-combat use requires finding a moment of safety to activate โ€” Observe's slow movement while active means using it during an active assault is dangerous โ€” but the payoff of knowing the correct elemental mode for a phase transition is significant enough that experienced players build Observe checks into their phase-transition routines.

Upgrading Observe extends its duration, increases the detection range for enemy auras, and at higher tiers adds an annotation layer to the game world's environment โ€” highlighting interactive objects, hidden paths, and collectibles within its range. This environmental analysis function makes Observe a tool for exploration as well as combat, rewarding players who use it proactively in every new area rather than reserving it exclusively for difficult encounters.
