Oongka
Oongka is an orc warrior and veteran member of the Greymanes, occupying the role of the company's most physically imposing combatant. His history with the faction predates the events of the game; he was counted among Gian's most trusted inner circle alongside Kliff, Yann, and Naira — the four warriors who formed the nucleus of the Greymanes at the height of the company's power. Voiced by Stewart Scudamore, Oongka is characterized by a philosophical depth that sits in deliberate contrast to his physical presence. He communicates through measured, deliberate speech, occasional grunts, and the kind of observational wisdom that comes from a long life spent in conflict. He is described as passionate and driven by what is best for his people — "his people" meaning both orcs broadly and the Greymanes specifically, two identities he holds simultaneously without apparent tension.
Following the Black Bears' ambush that shattered the Greymanes, Oongka was separated from Kliff and spent the intervening time fighting alongside Marquis Stefan Lanford's forces in the Calphade region, lending his considerable combat skills to a lord who had allied with the Greymanes before the company's fall. He is not sitting idle waiting to be rescued; by the time Kliff reaches Ashclaw Keep in Chapter 7, Oongka has been waging his own war. The reunion at Ashclaw Keep arrives at the lowest point of Chapter 7's narrative — Kliff's confrontation with Myurdin inside the Keep leaves him incapacitated, and control shifts directly to Oongka. This is the precise moment he becomes a playable character: not introduced gently during a downtime sequence, but thrown into an active crisis with enemies pressing in and the player forced to understand his kit under pressure.
Oongka's combat identity is pure, unapologetic destructive force. He wields a Dekarr Greataxe as his primary weapon and an Orc Blaster — a hand cannon integrated into his physiology — as his ranged option. His most unique mechanical trait is his ability to dual-wield two-handed weapons simultaneously, a feat no other playable character can perform and one that grants him sweeping, wide-arc cleaving attacks ideal for eliminating large groups of enemies. His Rampage ability allows him to enter an escalating state of aggression, increasing his attack speed and cleave radius as he chains kills together. The Orc Blaster fires explosive scatter-shot rounds at medium range, making Oongka effective at both melee and moderate distances without requiring weapon switching. His immense strength as an orc provides him with natural advantages over most standard enemies, including increased stagger buildup on attacks and resistance to being staggered himself. This makes him feel substantially different from Kliff's technical, combo-oriented style and Damiane's evasion-dependent approach; Oongka's design philosophy is to reward aggression and reward staying in the fight rather than retreating.
Oongka's playstyle is the game's most accessible in mechanical terms — the straightforward aggression and high damage tolerance mean that players who struggle with Kliff's timing-heavy unarmed integration or Damiane's positioning demands will find him more forgiving. However, "accessible" is not synonymous with shallow. His dual two-handed weapon capability introduces a unique resource management consideration around stamina, since two-handed weapons are individually slower and heavier, and swinging two simultaneously demands careful attention to stamina preservation in prolonged fights. Understanding the Orc Blaster's scatter pattern for mid-range crowd management, and knowing when to transition from Rampage's aggressive momentum into a defensive pause, constitutes a meaningful layer of mastery. Among the three playable characters, Oongka occupies the fantasy of an unstoppable force that simply refuses to stop moving forward — a characterization that aligns seamlessly with his philosophical acceptance of violence as his role in the world.
