Mosslax
Mosslax is a Snorlax who has been asleep for so long that a small ecosystem has grown on its body: patches of thick moss across its back, and a single wildflower — bright and improbable — blooming from the top of its head. Nobody is quite sure how long Mosslax has been here, including Mosslax.
The Sleeping Landmark
Before Ditto arrived, Mosslax may have been the closest thing the Withered Wasteland had to a landmark. It's large enough to navigate by, and the moss on its back actually contributed some small amount of green to an otherwise gray landscape. There's something both melancholy and quietly hopeful about a Pokémon who became a habitat before they were a neighbor.
When Mosslax does stir — slowly, infrequently — they're amiable in the unhurried way of something that has outlasted urgency. They don't move much, but they notice things. Players who check in with Mosslax at different points in the island's restoration may find their observations have shifted.
Species Notes
Snorlax's most famous mechanic in the mainline games is blocking roads — you need a Poké Flute to wake one up. Pokopia doesn't require a Flute, but the visual language is similar: Mosslax as obstacle-that-becomes-friend, dormancy-that-becomes-presence.
