Glide

✨

Glide is the most dramatic move in Pokémon Pokopia's toolkit. Launch from an elevated point and Ditto — in whatever form they've adopted — soars. It's not indefinite flight; it's a controlled descent from high ground to low, covering distances that would otherwise require significant travel. But executed well, it's fast, fluid, and the first time it clicks, genuinely exhilarating.

How to Learn It

Glide is taught by Dragonite, one of the most powerful Pokémon in the game's roster and deliberately placed late in the progression. Dragonite doesn't appear until the island has reached a significant level of restoration — they're drawn to thriving, healthy environments, not ruined ones. Earning Dragonite's friendship, and by extension Glide, is a mid-to-late game milestone that feels proportionate to the reward.

Traversal Uses

The island has several elevated points — cliff edges, rocky outcroppings, the higher sections of restored biomes — and Glide makes all of them launching pads. Areas that would take minutes to reach on foot become seconds from the air. Certain secrets and materials are also only accessible via Glide landings in specific spots.

Transformation Move

Like Surf, Glide is a Transformation move: it changes how Ditto navigates rather than changing the terrain. The two transformation moves together — water travel and air travel — represent the maximum mobility the game offers, and both are earned late by design.
