Perimeter: Map Guide

Perimeter is Marathon's beginner map — 5 squads, wide sightlines, and the Intercept event. The old terraforming outskirts of Tau Ceti IV's colony. Best starting point for learning the extraction loop.

Perimeter

Perimeter is Marathon's introductory map and the recommended starting zone for all new Runners. Set on the outskirts of Tau Ceti IV's primary colony site, this former terraforming staging area combines wide exterior terrain, clear sightlines, and a forgiving layout that teaches the extraction loop without overwhelming complexity. Five squads of three share this map, making it the least-populated and most approachable drop zone in Season 1.

Quick Facts

  • Difficulty: Beginner
  • Max Teams: 5 squads of 3 (15 players)
  • Unlock: Available by default at launch
  • Locked Rooms: 6
  • Dynamic Event: Intercept

Key Zones

North Relay & South Relay

Communication relay towers at each end of the map. Rich in loot containers and frequently contested early-match. The twin relays create two distinct "hot zones" that squads fight over before converging on the Station.

Station

Central hub connecting the major routes. High-traffic area with multiple entry points. The Station Security Office: accessible with a keycard found in the world, contains some of the best early-game loot on the map.

Overflow

Contains the Overflow Laboratory, one of the highest-density loot areas on Perimeter. Multiple rooms require Hazard Override Cards (Tox Clear) to access, carry these whenever you find them.

Hauler

Industrial loading area with heavy container cover. Good for ambushes and defensive play. Lower loot density than other zones but excellent for escape routing.

Dynamic Event: Intercept

The Intercept event triggers mid-match and draws UESC high-value drops to a central location. All squads are notified, creating a deliberate collision point. Decide whether to contest the drop for top-tier loot or use the distraction to safely scavenge neglected areas of the map.

Tips for Perimeter

  • Always carry Hazard Override Cards: they unlock Tox Clear rooms with far better loot.
  • Wide sightlines mean you can be spotted from a distance, use buildings and industrial structures as cover when moving.
  • The Station keycard is one of the highest-priority pickups, the Security Office rewards are worth fighting for.
  • Intercept: if you're not confident fighting 2+ squads, let others contest it and loot the flanks instead.
