UESC Trooper (Heavy)
Heavy Troopers represent the upgraded tier of the UESC's basic infantry β Trooper constructs that have been fitted with reinforced plating and heavier armament after the initial AI uprising. They move slower than standard Troopers due to the additional weight and are never found in the same patrol-group quantities, typically appearing solo or in pairs as zone guardians rather than patrol members. Their presence in a zone indicates a higher-value area that the UESC AI has prioritized for defense.
The reinforced plating on Heavy Troopers interacts differently with energy versus ballistic weapons β energy weapons deal bonus damage to the electronic components underneath the plating, making Plasma Casters and Arc Burst Rifles significantly more efficient against Heavy Troopers than ballistic alternatives with equivalent damage ratings. This is the first enemy type where weapon selection meaningfully affects combat efficiency, making Heavy Trooper encounters a practical introduction to Marathon's weapon-type matchup system.
Encounter Notes
- Typical deployment: Guarding high-value rooms, contract objective locations, and locked room entrances
- Alert behavior: Heavy Troopers broadcast a wide-area alert when damaged, attracting nearby Troopers and Drones
- Counter: Energy weapons deal +25% damage; approaching from behind bypasses front-facing sensor array
- Loot: Heavy rounds, VK-4 Carbine, armor plating salvage β reliable mid-game supplies
