Colony Rifle

The Colony Rifle is the standard-issue ballistic rifle of the Tau Ceti IV colonial security forces — a reliable, utilitarian weapon that represents the floor of what a competent assault rifle should be. It is not exceptional in any category, but it is available everywhere, uses common heavy rounds, and performs adequately from early- to mid-game. For new runners who are still building their stash, the Colony Rifle is frequently the best available primary weapon from zone loot, and understanding its limitations is part of learning Marathon's combat fundamentals.

Combat Application

The Colony Rifle is a B-tier weapon best treated as a stepping stone to better options. It performs adequately against Troopers and early Enforcers but struggles against elite enemies and rival runners with better gear. Invest in MIDA or CyberAcme faction upgrades to replace it as soon as economically viable. Its primary virtue is ubiquity — you will never struggle to find one in any zone.
