FNKL Compact

The FNKL Compact is the precision alternative in Marathon's SMG category — a slightly lower fire rate than the BRRT but meaningfully better accuracy at the mid-range edge of the SMG envelope. Where the BRRT overwhelms at pure close range, the FNKL operates effectively from five to twenty-five meters, filling the gap between an SMG and an assault rifle without committing fully to either category. For runners who find themselves frequently in semi-open spaces rather than tight corridors, the FNKL offers a more forgiving accuracy profile.

The FNKL's compact frame contributes to its handling characteristics: it draws and holsters faster than any other SMG, making it an effective secondary weapon even for runners carrying a primary rifle or shotgun. The lower damage per shot compared to the BRRT is compensated by the higher accuracy — more bullets land at medium range, and the net damage output per second at the FNKL's effective range is competitive with the BRRT's optimal range.

Combat Application

The FNKL is particularly effective against Trooper groups in semi-open areas, against Enforcers where you can maintain 10-15 meter distance, and as a secondary weapon for runners whose primary is a shotgun or heavy weapon that requires awkward reloads. It pairs well with the Glitch Shell, whose tactical advantages often create 10-20 meter engagement scenarios where the FNKL's accuracy edge over the BRRT becomes meaningful.
