Blackout SR

The Blackout SR is the suppressed sniper rifle in Marathon's arsenal — a bolt-action precision weapon with an integrated suppressor that eliminates muzzle flash and prevents nearby enemies from locating the shooter by sound. While its 150 damage falls 30 points below the Apex Sniper, the Blackout SR's stealth after firing is its defining advantage: a well-positioned Blackout runner can take multiple shots from the same position without alerting patrol routes or revealing their location to rival runners. This makes the Blackout SR uniquely powerful for extended sniping operations on Apex and Perimeter.

Combat Application

The Blackout SR paired with Void Shell Dark Cloak creates the most effective long-range ambush build in Marathon. Cloak to reach a vantage point undetected, eliminate priority targets with suppressed fire, and re-cloak when rivals begin pushing your position. The combination of invisibility and suppressed fire makes this pairing disproportionately difficult to counter at long range. Invest in Arachne sensor nodes for target identification while maintaining your position.
