Jjaro Phase Blaster

The Jjaro Phase Blaster is a MIPS-category weapon of alien origin — a pistol-frame device that fires phase bolts capable of momentarily phasing through solid matter, allowing projectiles to bypass any cover or obstacle between the runner and the target. The physics of the Phase Blaster defy conventional weapon classification: its bolts do not travel ballistically but phase between dimensions, rendering walls, doors, and even Runner Shells partially transparent to the round's energy. The result is a weapon that can eliminate targets who believe they are in complete cover.

The Phase Blaster is among the rarest items in Marathon — it appears only in S-tier loot rooms in Core and Apex, and it does not appear in any vendor catalog at any faction tier. When a runner finds one, they find one of the most situationally powerful weapons in the game, but its 6-round magazine and MIPS ammo scarcity mean careful shot selection is critical.

Combat Application

The Phase Blaster has one primary use that no other weapon can replicate: eliminating enemies or rival runners who are in cover. In PvP, watching a rival duck behind a wall and firing through it is a psychological disruption as much as a damage event. Against AI enemies, the ability to fire through walls allows runners to eliminate Sharpshooter Enforcers from positions those enemies consider safe cover. The Phase Blaster changes the fundamental rules of engagement for every encounter in which it is used.
